BOOKS ARE GOOD
6/01/2010The Self Fab House Book is out recently by Actar, featuring CardBin, a rather parrochial project-product of a collaboration between Topotheque and N. Katsikis back in 2007.
The objective was to provide the means to the user to build a living unit on his own, to “self-fabricate his house”. The Cardbin project stresses the idea of a series of cardboard folds in which the user casts different sorts of materials varying from coloured resin to planted soil. By arranging these blocks accordingly, the simple form of a cabin emerges as a prototype which leads to more variations.
The CardBin project was a finalist entry in the Self Fab Competition organised by IAAC, Barcelona
